July 3 day trip

Today was our day trip with Keith and Jennifer to the Center of the Nation Marker. It is 7.8 miles off of HWY 85 on a gravel road. There is a hand painted sign on the fence. You park and crawl through the fence and then avoid stepping on cow pies to get to the marker. The marker with the arrow is a reference point. That is where they placed the flag. It points to the other marker which is a few feet away and says 'center'. The information guy at the Tri-State Museum in Belle Fourche says the actual center could be within a 15 mile radius of the center marker. Go figure. Anyway, it was fun. Took several pictures of wild flowers while we were there. The last picture is of the front porch, of course.

Happy Independence Day.
